The guidance here is general, not a diagnosis
We publish a lot of detail about how commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment fails and how a technician isolates a fault. It is written to be genuinely useful, and it is general information about how this equipment behaves.
It is not a diagnosis of your unit. Two machines with identical symptoms routinely have different faults, which is the whole reason a technician measures before quoting. Nothing on this site is a quote, an estimate, or a commitment to a particular repair or price.
Your safety comes before any of it
Some of what we describe — cleaning a condenser coil, checking a door gasket, looking at the ice a machine is producing — is routine. Some of it is not. Work involving electrical components, refrigerant, gas lines or a unit at height belongs to a qualified technician with the right tools and certification.
Stop and call someone if you find any of these:
- a burning smell, scorched wiring, or a breaker that trips again after being reset;
- a suspected gas leak — leave the area and call your gas utility first;
- refrigerant escaping, or oily residue around a fitting;
- standing water anywhere near electrical equipment;
- anything that would mean working on a roof or on a ladder you are not confident on.
You are responsible for deciding what you are competent and equipped to do. Follow the guidance here at your own risk, and never work on equipment you are not qualified to work on.
Booking requests
Sending a request through this site is a request, not a confirmed appointment. A visit is scheduled once we have confirmed it with you directly. We may not be able to take on every request.
Please give us accurate information about the equipment and the site. It determines what the technician brings, and a wrong model number usually means a second visit.

These terms cover the website. The commercial terms of any repair — what it costs, what is covered afterwards, and what happens if something needs revisiting — are agreed with you directly before work begins. Nothing on this page changes them.

We keep this site as accurate as we reasonably can, and we would rather publish nothing than publish something we cannot stand behind. Even so, equipment, codes and standards change, and we do not warrant that every page is complete or current at the moment you read it. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on the general information published here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

The text, photographs, layout and code of this site belong to Pierre Refrigeration Services. You are welcome to read it, print a page for your own use, and link to it. Republishing it as your own, or scraping it to build a competing site, is not permitted. Manufacturer and brand names mentioned anywhere on this site belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe equipment.
